What better way to spend a day than take a country drive to the Art Gallery of Ballarat to see the Net Work exhibition. The trip is worth it! There is much to see and think about in this exhibition with many outstanding artworks by exceptionally talented artists. Net Work has over 100 works by 38 contemporary artists who can be defined by one common factor: they are all members of The Littlest Forum (TLF), a private online group for professional contemporary artists across Australia.

24.08.2009 - ART RE-SOURCE: New interview & exhibition opening - Steve Rosendale

Steve Rosendale is a Melbourne based painter whose figurative cinematic oil paintings capture a romantic view of urban life. Heavily influenced by film noir and such cinematic greats as Michelangelo Antonioni, Steve’s paintings emanate a moody nostalgia of times long past. His commitment to his imagery is equalled by a commitment to realism and to mastering his materials, which is apparent in his finished paintings, some of which can be seen in his forthcoming exhibition “Incidental” at Libby Edwards Galleries Melbourne.

05.03.2007 - STAGE NOISE by Diana Simmonds

Steve Rosendale's most recent work is a powerful and intriguing series of paintings whose sources are film noir, fashion photography and urban mystery.

The pictures reek of Je Reviens, malt whisky and illicit goings-on in the poolside cottages of exclusive but seedy Hollywood hotels. The white trench coat - belt tied, not buckled - is as iconic here as it was in movies of the 40s and 50s when women were lush, louche and under contract to Warner Bros.
